Gujarat is the main producer of cotton, tobacco, rice, groundnut, wheat, millet, jowar, maize and the state's economy is agriculture based. Dairy and animal husbandry are also the main source of the economy of the villages.
Through Amul Cooperative Milk Union, Gujarat is not only India but also Asia's largest milk producer. Apart from oil, soap and petrol, Gujarat is a very big producer of livestock, eggs and wool. Tourism is also a good source of state's economy. The largest yard of the ship breaking vessel is in Bhavnagar and Reliance Petroleum, which is the world's largest land refinery, is in Jamnagar.
